The Wedding Planner

12 12 2010

Ah, the wedding planner debate. For several months this was me and G’s nightly “disagreement”. I even made lists to try to make him understand just how much goes into planning a wedding. While he still thinks a wedding is nothing more than booking a DJ and having some grub, (and beer) – I won the bigger debate, and got the planner! (Insert victory dance here.)

While I consider myself organized, I’m a self-confessed ideas girl. I can’t stop making new lists of ideas, and just need help pulling everything together. Plus, with my crazy busy schedule, a planner is just what I needed to stay sane.  I think what won G over is that fact that a sane bride is a happy bride (and groom).

We now have Details Planning Company on board and they are such a good fit! They know exactly what our vision of the day is and we seem to naturally click really well. The ball will get rolling faster after the holidays and I could not be more excited.

Engagement photos!! Part 1

12 12 2010

We’re so lucky to have the talented Erika Fitz of Erika Leigh Photography be shooting our wedding. I met Erika when we were both attending ISU and I immediately fell in LOVE with her photos when I saw that she’d started a photography gig. She’s super talented!

Erika came to Des Moines this fall and shot our engagement shoot at IKONIX Studio. It was amazing! We had a blast doing a ton of different stuff, one shot even involving deer antlers per request of the gr0om-to-be, (and she even stuck around after that!) A little peak of the fun is below!

Also, part 2 of our engagement photos will be hitting the blog soon! My friend, Sara from Sara Boutros Photography came to out to our acreage and shot a bunch of great outdoor shots. I heart having talented friends.

Google maps caught our engagement! …Almost!!

19 08 2010

I think this is the craziest thing ever. G was perusing hunting areas on google maps, and just happened to notice that the photo of our home had been updated. As he looked closer, he saw that it was updated on the day of our engagement, MOMENTS before the proposal. If it was taken five minutes later, it would have caught him actually on his knee! You can read the full story of our engagement here. I guess it’s true what they say, someone is always watching!

Here are some images from google maps. The first is outside at our house where G proposed!

This is my mom parked on the road hiding until I drove by. My friends were also on various gravel roads waiting!
